Double tap the sensors or the touch pad to unlock it. Short press on the power button worked for me. The sensor LED light needs to be switched OFF in order to activate the touchpad. Another double tap does not restart the trackpad.
This was intended by HP to make it easier to type without having the trackpad interfere with your work.īut if done by accident, it is difficult to re-engage the trackpad. If you ACCIDENTALLY double tap the upper left corner of your track pad, it will stop functioning.

HP PAVILION MOUSE PAD LOCK WINDOWS 7
Refer: Disabling the TouchPad in Windows 7 I just purchased the Pavilion dm4 d 2191us - the touchpad WILL NOT SCROLL, I have updated the bios, I have updated the touchpad driver, nothing is working - I don't want to send the machine back because of the touchpad but am growing increasingly. Using and Configuring the TouchPad (Windows 7 and Vista) Lock or Unlock HP Touchpad Next to the touchpad, you should see a small LED orange or blue.
I suggest you to refer to the following article from HP and check if it helps: I understand that you disabled your touchpad as you prefer a mouse. Thank you for posting your issue on the Microsoft Community. Depending on the system model, you can perform the following key combinations to enable / disable the touchpad.
